94 - 95 Mustang Vortech Blower Inlet

Anyone who has ever installed, or looked at a completed Vortech supercharger kit on a 94 - 95 Mustang 5.0 has no doubt noticed that the air inlet to the blower is extremely restrictive. This is due to the fact that Vortech designs their kits to be a 100% bolt-on with no major modifications being necessary. However, with just a little work, the inlet can be made to ingest as much air as the blower wants.

Stock 94 - 95 Mustang Vortech Inlet

But before you plunk down your money for this kit it's important to note that not every SN94 car needs it. Vortech's inlet elbow flows enough air for the stock 3.3" pulley (8 psi) and even a 3.1" pulley (10 - 11 psi). In fact, it flows enough air to make a solid 11 psi with an S-Trim and a 3.1" pulley on a well built 302.

When you use a small pulley like the 2.5" you're really spinning the blower fast, and this is when a more free flowing inlet elbow is necessary to make more boost. The stock inlet elbow actually chokes off the blower after 11 or so psi and no matter how fast you spin it it won't be able to build any more boost, but the boost will come on sooner.

When our kit was installed on a S-Trimmed 347 with ported TFS TW and a 2.5" blower pulley, boost went from 11 psi to 15 psi with no other changes. An R or T-Trim would pick up even more.

The kit utilizes a stock 86 - 93 Mustang Vortech inlet elbow and 3.5" flex tubing. The flex tubing is routed to the inner fenderwall where the factory 1/2 circle must be enlarged to a full circle in order to access the inside fender. Inside the fender, the SN94's elbows are retained as well as the mass air meter's mounting location. It is also necessary to relocate the bypass tubing and a 1" diameter hose is included in the kit to do so.

The kit comes complete with everything you need to give your Vortech the ability to breath deep and costs $85. Should you choose to have us perform the installation, you're looking at $100 in labor. Not a bad investment to pick up 5 or more pounds of boost. But remember, you only need this kit if you're trying to make more than 10 - 11 psi.
